A meeting for public review of the 2006 State Forest Management Plan, according to the Department of Natural Resources is part of the DNR's effort to maintain its forest certification. The DNR was certified in forest management by two independent, third-party organizations earlier this year, signifying that the department manages the state forests in an ecologically-sound and sustainable way. The meeting is Monday, Aug. 14, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Don H. Bottum University Center on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
