Barkell Elementary PTO Pancake Breakfast Dec. 6

Hancock – Barkell Elementary PTO Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Barkell Elementary School Gym in Hancock.

Tickets are $4 and preschoolers are free.

The Barkell Elementary choir will be performing at the breakfast for a special treat. There will also be the12th annual cakewalk and 5th grade book fair.

This event is sponsored by the Barkell Elementary PTO, Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and several local businesses. Please support the school by attending.

Negaunee Male Chorus Christmas Concert Dec. 6

Ishpeming – The Negaunee Male Chorus under the direction of Vicki Lempinen and accompanied by Linda Hurrell, will present their annual Christmas concert,”Sing We Now of Christmas” on Saturday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at the W.C. Peterson Auditorium at Ishpeming High School.

Tickets are $7 and are available from any chorus member or at the door. Other ticket outlets are Ishpeming Credit Union, Peninsula Bank downtown Ishpeming, Jubilee Foods on U.S.41 and Ezekiel Bookstore.

Rapid River Christmas Bazaar Dec. 6

Rapid River – The Rapid River Four Township Senior Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omni Center on Main Street in Rapid River.

There will be crafts, baked goods, silent auctions, free drawings, holiday decorations, a concession stand, woodworking, pottery and much more.

L'Anse – The 8th grade L'Anse Area Teaming Leadership class will host a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Mukka family on Thursday, December 4 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the C.J. Sullivan Elementary School gym. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. fee. Takeout will be available.

The Mukka family is battling Juvenile Huntington's Disease.

Houghton/Hancock – Keweenaw Home Nursing and Hospice will offer free blood pressure clinics on Thursday, December 4 from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. at Lakeview Manor in Hancock, from 11:30 a.m. to noon at the Douglass House in Houghton, and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Manor in Houghton. Marquette – The Marquette Sister Cities Exchange will offer a program featuring the summer 2008 trip to Kajaani, Finland on Saturday, December 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

Sister city delegates will tell of their visit to the Kajaani area. Information will be shared about the next trip planned for the summer of 2010.

Guided Tour of Superior Extrusion

Marquette – Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will sponsor a guided tour of the newly expanded Superior Extrusion aluminum products company at K.I. Sawyer on Tuesday, December 9.

Participants will meet at 1 p.m. at the east parking lot of the Berry Events Center in Marquette or at 1:15 p.m. at Jack's Superserv in Harvey.

Don Amsberg will lead the one hour tour of the aluminum shaping process.

The cost is $4 for NCLL members, $7 for others, plus contributions for gas.
