Negaunee – The Friends of the Negaunee Library will have a used book sale on Thursday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center.
Those donating books may bring them to the Negaunee Public Library before Wednesday, July 9.
Ishpeming High School Class of 1983 Reunion July 5

Ishpeming – The Ishpeming High School class of 1983 will have a casual class night on Saturday, July 5 at 7 p.m. at Derocha's 41 Steak House on U.S. 41 West, Ishpeming.

International Food Fest July 3-5

Marquette – The 23rd Annual Marquette County Exchange Club International Food Fest will be held Thursday, July 3 through Saturday, July 5 from noon to 10:30 p.m. each day at the Elwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park in downtown Marquette.
Treat yourself to great ethnic flavors including Greek, Chinese, Italian, Thai, Cajun and American.
There will be live music, games for the children and a giant 27 foot slide.
All net proceeds will go to area nonprofit organizations.

Marquette – Marquette's Fourth of July Parade will be held on Independence Day at 2 p.m. with the parade route beginning at the intersection of Washington Street and McClellan Avenue and ending at Third and Rock Streets in downtown Marquette.
The boat parade and fireworks will begin at dusk at Mattson's Lower Harbor Park in downtown Marquette.

Michigan Tech involved in Michigan’s first Center of Energy Excellence

Michigan Tech has partnered with Michigan State University and the Mascoma Corporation to produce Michigan's first Center of Energy Excellence. The center will be a commercial cellulosic ethanol plant located in Chippewa County, south of Sault Ste. Marie. Cellulosic ethanol offers a clean-burning and economical alternative to petroleum-based fuel and ethanol made from corn. David Reed, Michigan Tech's Vice President of Research, talks about the fuel.

Police Cadets vs Taco Bell – Junior Division – Marquette, Michigan – June 27, 2008

Despite playing in another cold and rainy game, the Police Cadets extended their winning streak to six games by defeating Taco Bell by a score of 16-6 in Marquette on Friday, June 27, 2008.
Game Summary by Coach Randy Larson:
Pat Lynch and Garrett Pentecost each scored four times in a come from behind victory for the Police Cadets in the rubber match for the season against Taco Bell as PC won 16-6 in a time shortened game. Austin Riipi also scored 3, Cameron Fries 2, and Brandon Jarvinen, Drew Van Drese and Spencer Larson each added one. Riipi had 5 RBIs and Pentecost 4. Taco Bell had a 5-2 lead after three innings when PC broke open the run machine in the fourth plating 4 and another 6 in the 5th and closed the door with 4 in the 6th. In a game spanning two days because of rain, the Police Cadets continue their winning streak with their fifth win in a row by defeating CCI by a score of 12-11.
