Great Lakes Radio, Inc. is seeking an entry level Assistant Production Director. The successful candidate must exhibit strong positive energy and work closely with a team that spans multiple radio stations.
The successful candidate must multitask and prioritize.
They will produce spots, follow daily task lists, complete detailed checklists, catch and fix problems, work closely with traffic, undertake some programming tasks, edit sound files, create sound files, manage and maintain various music and production libraries, effectively use various software to achieve goals in a timely manner. They will communicate regularly with management through reports.
After training, occasionally act as traffic manager assistant. Some board op duties will be required. During sport season, evening and weekend duties may increase significantly. After training, basic computer maintenance and troubleshooting tasks and staff computer training with network tools will also be carried out by successful candidate.
Programming daily and weekly scheduling logs and on-air machines will be expected after training. Verification of spots plays before and after play date will be required.
Will have to master scheduling, voice tracking, and sound editing software. Will schedule streaming and recording of shows, sports, and special events. Successful candidate will closely work with sports staff, software, sports programming, and sports details across all stations of Great Lakes Radio, effectively acting as a assistant to the Sports Director.

Duties:
Help do production, assist with program director duties, follow all rules and directives of management.
Basically, it is an entry-level catch all job where employee will do all labors required or requested by managment, including but not limited to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly log reports, filing of reports, log verifies, setting and configuration checks, produce spots, rip cds, download and process spots, diagnose and fix errors, assist on special projects, run board, sit in on-air, subsitute when people are sick, update periodically changing spots/promotions, run errands for various persons in management, check computer settings, clean work areas, provide voice and other talents on advertising spots, work evenings and and weekends when requested, be available most times of days as needed for miscellaneous duties.
Additionally, there may be regular shift or times to assist with the frontdesk/reception area/shopping show sales to public.
Requirements:
Ability to many tasks at once and get good results in a fast paced work environment.
Technical skills with sound files and editing a big positive. Knowledge of Adobe Audition, Audacity a very strong desired skill. Creative attention to serving commercial clients is a must.
Ability to help sales and marketing staff to turn scripts or script ideas or in-field needs analysis from average presentation to excellent results is a must. Helping team to serve client needs is highest priority.
Excellent work ethic a must. Good attitude a must.
Ability to work flexible hours a must. Ability to cover on-air shifts, including Voice Tracked shift from time-to-time.

WQXO – AM 1400 is seeking Show Host, Interviewer, and Community Promotions Specialist for about two to three hours each dayat the Munising Studio in the Navigator Restaurant, M-F.
Applicants will need to be computer savvy, work with a studio board (after training) and software and be very proficient while handling people and phones/equipment at the same time. Furthermore, the preferred candidate will have a strong desire to promote and serve Munising and Alger County listeners.
Obviously multitasking is a must while keeping calm through any and all “oops” moments. And there will be “oops” moments!
Knowledge of Oldies & Classic music can be learned. With the best candidates, computer skills and radio board skills, phone, interview, audio editing, and community promotions skills can be learned in a short time. The successful candidate should be able to grow and develop their skills quickly while maintaining good control of themselves and their Interviews. Email, web posts, and typical activities with social networking sites and scheduling events and interviews are also part of job.

Great Lakes Radio, Inc. (GLR) is seeking a passionate, qualified, detail-oriented sports professional with strong computer and communications abilities who can develop close and productive relationships with athletic directors, sponsors, and GLR staff.

Number of Positions Available: 1

Type of Position: After July 2010, usually Part-time, 10-20hours/wk but with more hours during upcoming transition and move of offices to new location and adoption of new software(s).
Position Description: Great Lakes Radio, Inc. (GLR) is seeking a professional computer and network technician that applies standards, responds quickly, follows up and reports quickly on the status and progress of repairs and projects.
The Successful Candidate: The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and eventually Windows 7. They will be prepared to learn and master installation, setups, and troubleshooting of a several generations of radio industry software and tools from production tools like Adobe Audition to various Radio Production, Scheduling, Trafficking, RDS, and streaming servers and tools.
The successful candidate will have the ability to successfully complete preventive, on-going, and disaster maintenance, backup, documentation and reporting a must. This is a job that requires strong system, data protection, recovery skills and a well-developed understanding of converting and managing networking infrastructure.
The successful candidate will not only be able to adapt quickly to new and upgraded software needs and infrastructure changes, they will have a strong fundamental understanding of system infrastructure and use that understanding to maintain and improve system performances at both the systems level as well as the networking level.
Candidate must be able to configure, maintain, update, upgrade, repair and recover from disasters related to desktop, laptop, servers, networks and networking tools. Ability to setup, configure, secure, backup, recover, restore, and maintain FTP, Web (Intranet Servers IIS and Apache), Vendor-specific server-client software/tools, databases (MS SQL and MySql), and maintain email server, streaming server, and audio archive server will be required.
Understanding of system scripting, Linksys, Cisco and other brand routers, and most Internet protocols a must. Ability to properly configure a secure wireless network required. Ability to effectively setup, maintain, and evaluate firewalls and proxy servers. Intrusion detection duties are included.
Example Computer Tech Responsibilities:
The Computer Technician is responsible for providing desktop hardware, software support and quality service to user community. Duties include installation and maintenance of computers, networking, and peripheral equipment as well as associated operational documentation. The Computer Technician is responsible for performing these duties in accordance with documented policies and procedures and as management dictates, with a strong bias to apply industry standards and careful attention to protection of systems from infection, infiltration, hacking, and data loss and/or data misappropriation.
The performance of routine technical and associated physical tasks may be required; packaging and un-packaging and preparing new equipment, assembly of computer systems and peripherals, back-up/restore of user data, installing standard software, and initiating/troubleshooting network connections are a few examples.
Computer/Network Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, securing, monitoring and repairs to all new and existing equipment such as critical servers, network infrastructure, workstations, printers and monitors.
Example of Additional Networking Responsibilities:
* Proactive monitoring of the health and status of the production network, servers and applications using the appropriate monitoring tools
* Provide first tier support and be a point of escalation as it relates to monitoring services
* Create, review, log troubleshooting notes and close network trouble tickets. Maintain outage notifications logs and follow documented escalation procedures where appropriate. Work closely with ISP to maintain Internet connection(s).
* Assist networked employees in the troubleshooting and resolution of issues
* Identify how the monitoring tools can be leveraged for system performance enhancement and report showing environment trending
* Work closely with key vendors and escalate problems to them as necessary, while providing alternative workarounds to keep work flow and operations active.
* Maintain documentation of processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides and change management logs.
Additional Computer Tech Responsibilities:
* Performs troubleshooting and repairs on computers and peripheral systems or equipment according to current or developing desktop standard configuration guidelines and documented procedures
* Performs daily review of open work orders to prioritize tasking. Documents resolution and closes completed work orders
* Images, tests, and installs desktop/laptop computers for all employees, systems, and computers; this includes installing and configuring office software (MS Office and/or Open Office), email clients (MS Outlook, Thunderbird), Operating Systems (Microsoft 2003, XP or later, but with some older software sometimes) encryption tools and configuring and securing wireless access as needed
* Provides desktop technical assistance to System Administration and Network Operations teams as needed or contracted.
* Performs and documents preventive maintenance of computer equipment as required. Similarly, Performs and documents all updates, upgrades, and configurations of anti-virus, Operating Systems, anti-spyware, anti-malware, client and server Firewalls, Networking and client passwords, servers, and Network Attached Storage Devices.
* Facilitates vendor warranty return process, tests and evaluates items returned from repair
* Participates in life-cycle replacement tasking and other technical improvement projects
* Manages retrograde efforts for all computer equipment, this includes performing DoD or better wipe on all hard drives and preparing required documentation
* Responsible for maintaining physical inventories, supplies, tools and ensuring accuracy as directed
* Participates or Undertakes in the creation of technical and procedural documentation. Performs monthly/annual/seasonal review of documentation.
* Alerts management to potential threats, abuses, and dangers to systems, equipment, data, or practices.
* Good maintenance of passwords as per policy.
* Maintenance of all equipment serial numbers, software licenses, user keys, and configuration backups matching hardware and licensed machine(s).
* Provide, sometimes, remote technical support on many different softwares in a Windows environment
Basic Requirements:
* You MUST be an excellent hardware repair tech and have very strong troubleshooting skills.
* You MUST have a good understanding of DNS, Active Directory, and DHCP.
* You must be able to provide Router support, VPN support, Terminal Services Support, Remote Access and Maintenance Support, Proxy Server Support, Firewall Support, Intrusion Detection Support
* Must be able to install MS Windows Servers, Re-Install Servers, Install Windows Operating Systems and Configure Drivers, Settings, and Security.
* Must be experienced with system imaging, data backup, system restoration, server restoration, server backups.
* Must be Experience with print and fax servers for installation and support.
* Windows XP and 2000 desktop support required, including but not limited to system optimization
* Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

* Start by training and working more hours in April 6th-10th, then again in May – July to help Move and Transition To New Site. Later, a regular 10-20 hours a week in computer, network and server maintenance
* Knowledge of radio equipment, studio setup, sound equipment, and various ways that such equipment is put together with software is something that if not already understood, must be quickly learned.

General Networking Requirements:
* Previous NOC experience in a small to medium operation
* Good Understanding of standard IP networking, and troubleshooting
* Good Understanding of Microsoft servers and OS’s, including, SQL, IIS, Windows 2003, XP
* Good Understanding of email servers, ftp servers, and http servers, both Windows and Linux-based
* Some familiarity with Linux or Unix based systems and networks very helpful
* Storage technologies, NAS, Automated backups, server based .
* Excellent understanding of Cisco, switches, hubs, wireless access, wireless and wired security, proxies, and firewalls
* Knowledge and experience with Active Directory, Windows Networking, Internet Domain Management helpful as well.
* Ability to work day, evening, or night shifts and holidays as required
* Flexible with the ability to handle stressful situations
* Understanding of most Microsoft Office Products and Open Source Alternatives Required
