Y Wednesday Update With The YMCA Of Marquette County

MARQUETTE, MI (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County has recently been found to be the most obese county in Michigan. That’s according to a statistics in Michigan’s Behavioral Risk Factor Survey. Data shows that Marquette County residents are not simply overweight, but they are considered obese. They also do not eat well and they do not engage in regular physical activity or exercise.

The YMCA of Marquette County has decided to do something about this by geting involved with the Healthy Weight Journal 8 Community Wellness Challenge. Lisa Coombs-Gerou, Executive Director of the YMCA of Marquette County joined Mark and Walt in the Morning to discuss the details of the challenge and how people from around Marquette County are getting involved.

She also told us about a series of other summertime events and activities going on at the Y and how parents and their kids can enjoy the facility and it’s programs this season.
