Marquette Trail 50 UltraMarathon – August 17-18

Marquette, MI – The course is mostly single-track, climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the-World, Bareback, and Hogback.

Much of the trail consists of moderate to difficult terrain, with significant climbs and technical areas.  According to Ultrarunning Magazine, the course is rated 3 out of 5 for Terrain (“Hilly”), and 4 out of 5 for Surface (“Trail with substantial rocks, roots and/or ruts”).

On Friday evening, we will also host a competitive 5K before the popular-must-watch children’s races 1M and 5K with special awards and shirts.  Friday races follow the North Country Trail.  The format is out-and-back.  This section of the trail is part of the “big loop” for the 50K and 50M.  Racers will enjoy single-track trails with short ascents and descents, along with technical areas with lots of rocks and roots.
