American Legion Post 559 of Rock and Post 540 of Perkins will participate in a Veterans Day program on Monday, November 12 at 10 a.m. at Mid Peninsula School. Allan M Jokela, Vietnam veteran and adjutant of the Rock post, will be the guest speaker, discussing the role of Legionnaires in the local community. Students will present patriotic songs and readings, and girls who attended Girls State this year will report on this program. The Rock Legion Auxiliary will perform its flag folding ritual. The program will conclude with a salute to all veterans by the legion firing squad and the playing of “Taps.”
