Local law enforcement officers want to remind citizens to never give financial information via email or telephone. A recent email scam under the guise of the IRS has been circulating, claiming the recipient is eligible for an additional refund, which then prompts a request for the recipient's social security number and credit card information. The IRS does not request this information, nor would they contact via email.
