Integrative Medicine Talk at NMU February 8th

Marquette – The next presentation in the Your Health lecture series at Northern Michigan University is titled “Road Map to Better Health: An Introduction to Integrative Medicine.” This free event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The lecture will feature two speakers: Dr. Jessica Haloskie, physician at UP Health System-Marquette and Dr. Lisa Long, physician at UP Health System-Marquette and assistant professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Haloskie and Long will discuss integrative medicine, an approach that seeks to restore health by personalizing patients’ care dependent on their unique physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual and environmental influences that affect health. This personalized strategy helps to ensure each patient receives the most appropriate treatments to regain and maintain optimum health. The speakers will cover ways to improve overall health, current trends in health care and the burden of chronic disease and how integrative medicine can be utilized for pain management.

Your Health is designed to provide qualified, general health information to area residents through a collaborative effort between Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, NMU and UP Health System-Marquette.
