Award-winning author William Durban will be at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette on Friday, January 18 at 7 p.m. to discuss his newest book for young people, “The Winter War,” which will be released in February. His powerpoint presentation will include archival photographs showing research he did for his novel with information on the Winter War, Finnish-Americans, Karelian fever, logging and the fur trade. The library will give away a class set of 12 autographed hardcover copies of “The Song of Sampo Lake” to the teacher with the most students attending Durbin's presentation. One student will win a copy to take home.
