Ponnistus Athletic Club invites fishermen to participate in its 23rd Annual Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, January 5 on Vermillac Lake in Covington. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with fishing until 4:30 p.m. Registration fee is $5. Cash prizes will be awarded for the largest catch of walleye, crappie, pike and perch. All registrants qualify for numerous door prizes. Concessions will be sold and a bonfire will burn throughout the event to warm participants and visitors.
