The Amasa Fire Department is sponsoring a cookbook sale fund-raiser to help toward the purchase of a new fire truck. The cookbook features recipes from Amasa residents and includes hard-to-find ethnic recipes such as riska, grostili, kropsu and mojakkaa, and legacy recipes including Gladys Olson’s Dandelion Wine. Recipes for dog biscuits, venison, pickling ideas and household hints are also included. Cookbooks are available at Tall Pines in Amasa, Economic Development Corporation office, Iron County courthouse, and area businesses. Cookbooks are also available by calling 822-7879 or 822-0013. Books are $10, or $14 if mailed. To order by mail, send check or money order to Amasa Firemen’s Cookbook, 233 Maki Road, Crystal Falls, MI 49920.
