Marquette – Illustration historian Jaleen Grove will present “Bodycount: A Graphic Reckoning in the Illustration Morgue” on Tuesday, January 23 at 6 p.m. in Room 165 of the Art and Design Building at Northern Michigan University.
Grove will address how various concepts of “the body” are implicated in the act of illustrating, in the resulting illustrations, and in how viewers interpret them. She will also explore how to account for the picture-morgue of historical illustration that built today’s visual culture and that informs illustrators’ education today. The event is free and open to the public.
