Escanaba – UPCAP will offer a 4 day Personal Action Towards Health training on Wednesday and Thursday, September 13 and 14, and on Wednesday and Thursday, September 20 and 21 in Escanaba.
This training certifies people to conduct the (PATH) workshops in their communities along with another trained leader, under the direction of UPCAP. PATH is a six week small group program, which meets once a week for 2 1/2 hours. The program gives people practical skills for living a healthy life with a chronic health condition like being overweight, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, fibromyalgia, asthma, chronic pain, or heart disease. The PATH program focuses on self-care, goal setting, learning ways to deal with not feeling well, and sharing personal experiences with other group members.
Ideal leaders are people living with a chronic health condition themselves or care for someone with a health condition. Leaders do not need to be health care professionals! Volunteers will receive assistance with travel expenses. Additionally, anyone who completes the 4 day training is eligible to attend 2 additional trainings to provide workshops specific to Diabetes and Chronic Pain.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 6. Contact Tonya LaFave at UPCAP at 906-217-3019 for more information or to register.
