Marquette, MI – April 8, 2017 – Northern Michigan University will present a screening of the Royal Ballet adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9. The production was filmed in London and will be projected in Jamrich Hall’s state-of-the-art auditorium. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for ages 17 and under.
Just before Victor Frankenstein leaves his family and closest friend for a university, his mother dies in childbirth. Distraught, he throws himself into his studies, learning obsessively all that he can from his professor. Fueled by his experiments and in a desperate hope to find a way to bring his mother back, Victor works furiously and eventually succeeds in giving life to a non-living matter. However, horrified by what he has done, Victor abandons his creation. This is a period adaptation of Shelley’s Gothic tale of morality and our craving for love, companionship and understanding.
This event is made possible by the Siril Endowment for the Music Arts through the NMU Foundation.
