Calendar – Education – “Inventing the Outdoors” Exhibit Opens at Michigan Iron Industry Museum – Oct. 30

Negaunee – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan History Foundation invite you to a new exhibit, “Inventing the Outdoors,” about Michigan outdoors and U.P. innovation, on Sunday, October 30 from 1 to 3 p..m. at the Michigan Iron Industry in Negaunee.

“Inventing the Outdoors” leads us on a journey beginning in the early 20th century as Americans began to seek wild and beautiful places for recreation and rejuvenation. Our guide is Webster Marble, perhaps the U.P.’s greatest inventor and entrepreneur. His Marble Arms and Manufacturing Company became an outdoor products powerhouse, outfitting legions of hunters, anglers, trappers, campers, hikers, and scouts.

Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Troy Henderson at 475-7857 or email HendersonT7@michigan.gov.
