Marquette – The NMU Orchestra and University Choir Concert will offer the joint concert “A Festival of Music Celebrating Women” on Saturday, October 15 at 3 p.m. at Reynolds Recital Hall on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
The University Chorus will sing pieces centering around this theme by John Farmer, Eric Barnum and Dolly Parton, while the University Orchestra will rock out with works by Jean Sibelius, Béla Bartók, and Lady Gaga. The University Chorus and Orchestra will then combine to perform Giovanni Pergolesi’s timeless Magnificat, celebrating perhaps the most highly favored woman of all, Mary. There will be a few surprise guest musicians along the way.
The concert is free and open to the public.
