Calendar – Community – 2016 Barnes-Hecker Remembrance Events – Oct. 19-20

Negaunee – A presentation of “Miners Will Die and Widows Will Cry,” by Jim Paquette, will be given on October 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. each evening at Ernie Ronn Hall, 1206 Baldwin Avenue, Negaunee.

The 2016 “Barnes-Hecker Remembrance,” which encompasses several events. The primary focus is the descendants who are the living legacy of the men who perished. The events also honor the 42 women who were widowed and the family members who lost fathers, brothers, grandsons, uncles and fiancés; and recognize the legacy of 132 minor children and their descendants, many of whom reside in Marquette County.

The events will also honor the common mining heritage of the region, and mine safety programs that strive to keep workers safe.
