Marquette – The One Book One Community program has planned several events related to this year’s selection, “The Round House,” a National Book Award winner for fiction by Louise Erdrich. The novel transports readers to an Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota, where a boy on the cusp of manhood seeks justice and understanding in the wake of a brutal, racist attack on his mother.
A panel presentation on the “Round House” will be held on Monday, September 26 at 1 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center. Panelists are Amy Hamilton, Patricia Killelea and Lynn Domina from NMU’s English department.
At 2 p.m., an artist reception will be at the DeVos Art Museum for Elizabeth Doxtater. Her “Art of Peace” exhibit explores the ancient form of cornhusk dolls to preserve traditional culture.
