Harvey – The community is invited to a party to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty on Tuesday, August 16 at 6 p.m. at the Chocolay Raptor Center, 146 Lakewood Lane in Harvey.
The birds at the Center are throwing a party that will start off with a presentation about the Migratory Bird Treaty, the implementing laws that followed and the current status of the law. The presentation will feature Marquette’s unique connection to the Treaty: George Shiras III, one of Marquette’s most famous residents, wrote the treaty and worked hard to protect the birds he loved.
The presentation will be followed by a cake and refreshments and music and dancing. All are welcome. For more information, contact Jerry Maynard at 249-3598.
