Baraga – “Celebrate the U.P.!” will be held Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 at Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College in Baraga.
Friday, March 18 events:
6 p.m. – Annual Meeting, Meet the Board, Celebrate UPEC’s 40th Anniversary.
7 p.m. – Showing of “Ojibwe Drum Songs,” a film by Michael Loukinen that blends story, song and dance and profiles an Ojibwe elder.
Saturday, March 19 events:
9 a.m.- Opening ceremony.
9:30 to 3 p.m. – Variety of presentations by local outdoor enthusiasts, authors, wildlife biologists and recreationalists.
1 to 3 p.m. – Children Activities.
3:30 p.m. – Featured speaker Trevor Thomas. Although blind, Trevor has hiked nearly 20,000 miles on some of this nation’s most difficult and spectacular trails.
