Marquette – The 23rd Annual “Learning to Walk Together” traditional pow wow will be held on Saturday, March 12, at Northern Michigan University’s Vandament Arena in Marquette. Doors open to the public at 11 a.m., with two grand entries at noon and 6 p.m.
“Learning to Walk Together” is a means to promote cultural diversity within the community. The celebration begins with the grand entry and flag song, followed by the veteran’s song to honor male and female veterans. The event includes traditional pow wow dances and social pow wow dances, with artisan and vendor booths featuring craft items, reference materials and food.
A hand-drum contest and feast will be held at 4 p.m. at the Jacobetti Complex and is open to all attendees.
