The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will meet on Sunday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid Street in Ishpeming. Jack Bowers, a fluorescent minerals collector, will discuss the different types of fluorescent minerals, where they can be found, and will demonstrate the use of fluorescent/ultraviolet light and explain different types of UV lamps. Those who attend the meeting may bring specimens to view under the UV lamps. The mineral for January is platinum. There will be a silent auction of mineral specimens and a business meeting after the program. For more information, call 228-9422.
