Marquette – The Marquette Regional History Center will present “Partnering to Preserve the Past: Fifteen Years of Archaeological Investigation within the Grand Island National Recreation Area” on Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m. at MRHC on W. Spring Street in Marquette.
Hiawatha Forest Heritage Program Manager Eric Drake will discuss the archaeological research done on Grand Island since 2001. This research is the result of a partnership between the National Forest and Illinois State University and will highlight excavations from the Late Archaic to Woodland period and what future research might take place.
