Marquette, Michigan – November 5, 2015 – The Northern Michigan University music department will host a percussion ensemble concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in Reynolds Recital Hall. It will feature standard percussion instruments such as marimbas, xylophones and snare drums, along with world instruments such as congas, shekeres and log drums. The musical selections will represent a variety of traditional styles. The program will also include a world drumming piece, a tribute to Gene Krupa, ragtime xylophone and a popular Mexican marimba ensemble.
