Republic – A Cancer Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, October 24 in Republic Township.
There will be a Cancer Awareness Day 5K Run/Walk beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. in the Republic-Michigamme School parking lot. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. from the parking lot and goes along the river to the township hall.
The first 50 registrants receive a free backpack. This event is free to participate in, however, you can purchase a t-shirt for $10 if you’d like.
Cancer Care of Marquette County will be doing informational presentations all day and will have a multitude of information for the public at the Republic Township Hall.
Republic and Cancer Care of Marquette County will be displaying wooden ribbons throughout the town in honor or in memory of loved ones with cancer.
Call Sandy or Liz to reserve your ribbon today at 376-8005. Give the person’s name, what type of cancer they have/had, and if the ribbon is in honor of or in memory of that person. Ribbons are $10 each.
Proceeds from ALL of the events on this day, including the wooden ribbons, will be going directly to Cancer Care of Marquette County.
