Marquette – Sex Signals, an unorthodox sexual assault awareness program that combines education with humor and improvisation, will be offered on Friday, August 28 at 8 p.m. in 1100 Jamrich on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
A two-person team of qualified educators will take the audience on an interactive, relevant, and often-humorous exploration of beliefs, behaviors, and gender stereotypes related to dating and sexual interaction. Then, through several semi-improvisational scenes, and one that depicts a rapist describing a rape, the program reaches out to students who have mislabeled coercion as consent, with the hope of changing behaviors and encouraging bystander intervention.
The program is free and open to the public.
