Camp New Day U.P, an interfaith camping program for children of prison inmates, will be offered July 27 through August 2 at Fortune Lake Camp near Crystal Falls.
The camp, including transportation, is free to all children ages 9 to 14 who have been impacted by the incarceration of a family member. They participate in water sports, crafts, games, hiking, “spirit time” and chapel, campfires, singing and cookouts. Activities emphasize working together to achieve common goals and increasing self-esteem.
The program is supported by donations. Volunteers are welcome to serve on the board, drive youths to camp, serve as supervisors, nurses, leaders of crafts and games, and more.
