London Royal Opera Production Screened at NMU

Marquette-Northern Michigan University’s music department will present a high-definition screening of the London Royal Opera’s production of L’Elisir d’Amore (Elixir of Love), a comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti. The screening will utilize the state-of-the-art video and audio technology in Jamrich Hall auditorium (room 1100). It is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15. Full English subtitles will be offered. An afterglow discussion with free pizza will follow the screening.

Mixing comedy and sorrow, the opera follows the love story of two young Italians: Adina, the beautiful and rich landowner; and Nemorino, the poor but lovable young man. Known for its famous arias, the opera is Donizetti’s most prominent production.

This is the first public performance of an event series made possible by the Siril Endowment Fund for the Music Arts. Admission to the showing is free to NMU students, $5 for 18 and below and $15 for the general public, with tickets available for purchase at the door. For more information, contact the NMU music department at music@nmu.edu or 227-2563.
