Marquette, Michigan – Tasty Reads, the book group for readers who love to cook, will meet for a book discussion of “Bucolic Plague” and the “Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbooks” by Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge on Monday, March 9 at noon or at 6:00pm in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room.
What happens when two New Yorkers (one an ex-drag queen) do the unthinkable, start over, have a herd of kids and get a little dirty? When Kilmer-Purcell and Ridge buy a centuries old mansion in upstate New York their adventure morphs into the Beekman brand and provides economic sustainability for farmers and cottage industries in their community.
Book group participants are invited to share a sample recipe inspired by the book. New members are always welcome.
