Delta County Airport Requesting 60-90 Minutes from Passengers

Escanaba, MI-Due to the increasing volume of travel in the Delta County Airport, Delta Airlines Management is requesting passengers arrive at the airport 60 to 90 minutes prior to departure. Delta County airport continues to provide an easy way to travel by providing shorter lines, shorter waiting times, and shorter distance from your car to the terminal. Yet, Delta Airlines has to maintain a time protocol which requires their ticket counter to close thirty minutes prior to boarding.

“In the Upper Peninsula, Holiday travel starts with Hunting Season and the waves of high volume of travelers do not end until after Spring Break. Generally, holiday travelers have more luggage and need that extra half an hour to comfortably make sure they get on that airplane,” Jennifer Nelson, Delta Airlines manager, explains.

“Regional airports are generally so easy to cruise that many times our travelers may forget to account for their check in and their security check time, which may accumulate to a significant amount of time. We will continue to actively communicate the importance of the 60 to 90 minute airport arrival to prevent our passengers from missing their flights,” said Kelly Smith, Airport Manager. A slight increase in the number of morning passengers missing their flights due to pre-boarding time has prompted our local Airlines to deliver a friendly reminder to the public to arrive 60 to 90 minutes prior to departure. The counter at Delta Airlines opens at 4:00 A.M to be ready for the morning flight passengers.

“We encourage our Delta Airlines travelers to download the Delta App for their smart phones; it is the easiest way to keep track of any arrival and departure time for any Delta flight,” added Nelson. “For Delta Airlines, the goal is to get you on the plane, and we will try our hardest to do so within our parameters,” she concluded.
