American Legion Auxiliary volunteers from 39 units in the Upper Peninsula will be distributing red, handcrafted poppies honoring America's war dead on Thursday May 15 through Saturday, May 17 in various locations throughout the U.P.
Each poppy, symbolizing those who died for freedom, justice and equality, has been made by veterans at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette as a supplement to the physical therapy program.
Proceeds from the poppy sale will go toward rehab and welfare programs of needy veterans and their families.
