MARQUETTE-August 31, 2014 – The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center’s September exhibition will be Burden of Place by Russell Thorburn and Sons. Russell Thorburn, a poet-in-residence for 12 years in the Upper Peninsula public schools, and U.P. Poet Laureate, will have a collection of poetry on exhibit, accompanied by photographs taken by his sons.
His sons are Gabriel Thorburn, a Northern Michigan University Art and Design graduate who lives in Los Angeles and is employed by Warner Bros as an editor; Christopher Thorburn, a Michigan State University student studying bio chemistry; and Michael Thorburn, a Marquette Senior High school student and a published poet.
The show will be running from Sept. 1 to Sept. 28, and there will be an artist reception on Thursday, Sept. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center is located at 217 N.
