Marquette – The Marquette Regional History Center will present “Willpower” an original play by Tyler Tichelaar, on Thursday, September 18 and Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. each evening at Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette.
The play is based on the life of Will, who during his early adolescence his soft tissues began hardening, gradually turning him into a living statue. Physicians of the day were baffled. Soon his legs had stiffened, and he could no longer walk without crutches. As he grew, the paralysis went higher, so that by his mid-teens he was confined to a customized portable couch. His face remained the only part of his body that still moved. His powerful story shows the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at NMU EZ Ticket Outlets and online at www.nmu.edu/tickets. For more information, visit marquettehistory.org, call 226-3571.
