The Marquette Astronomical Society will celebrate National Astronomy Day May 9 by having public observing at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette starting at 8:30 p.m.
Telescopes will be set up near the parking area. Objects to be observed include the crescent Moon, Mars, Saturn rings, the Beehive star cluster, the stars Arcturus Spica and more.
Star maps will be provided. All interested persons and their children are welcome. If very cloudy, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 10 at 9:30 p.m.
