Marquette – Readers Theater will meet for a reading of “The Rivals” by Richard Sheridan on Thursday, August 21 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The script is a comedy of errors whose plot centers on the two young lovers, Lydia and Jack. She wants a purely romantic love affair. He courts her pretending to be a poor officer. Eloping with a soldier enthralls her over the objections of her guardian, Mrs. Malaprop, a moralistic widow.
