COUNTY: Genesee
HIGHWAY: I-75
CLOSEST CITY: Flint
START DATE: Sunday, May 11, 2014
ESTIMATED END DATE: Thursday, May 15, 2014
PROJECT DETAILS:
Wide-ranging I-75 construction continues when northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured to accommodate work to adjust the elevation under I-475. Originally scheduled to begin May 4, the detour is being rescheduled due to weather.
The overall $13.3 million project started in late April and is anticipated to be completed in September. Work includes resurfacing 19 miles of I-75 from the Genesee/Oakland county line to the I-475 north junction, including bridge work on I-75 over Cook Road, I-75 under Grand Blanc and Fenton roads, and I-75 over the Flint River and Flushing Road. This project is weather-dependent.
TRAFFIC IMPACT:
Traffic on northbound I-75 will be detoured from 6 a.m. Sunday, May 11, until 6 a.m. Thursday, May 15.
Northbound I-75 traffic detour (from I-475 to US-23):
– Northbound I-75 traffic at the south junction of I-475 will be rerouted north on I-475 to westbound I-69, then back to I-75. Traffic heading north toward Saginaw can stay on I-475 to the north junction to access northbound I-75.
– Northbound US-23 will have lane closures in effect at Bristol Road with two lanes open at all times for the duration of this work.
