HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN – Hydrogels are jello-like substances that have potential uses in medicine because of their soft, gentle texture. Michigan Tech’s Bruce P. Lee wanted to make a hydrogel that moved–an “actuator”—and to make it happen, he borrowed chemistry from a certain tasty mollusk.
