MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN — Join the History Center for a day filled with everything 1920s – Think speakeasies, the auto boom, women’s suffrage, skyscrapers, Duke Ellington, and baseball. It was a fascinating era, and you will find out why the 20s were called “roaring” at our Saturday at the Center event. Meet a character from the decade while on a 1920s scavenger hunt through our exhibits, see a homemade still, play a popculture quiz game, try a hands-on craft and watch a silent short film or cartoon like Steamboat Willie.
Flapper clothing and artifacts from the time will be on display. In honor of dogsled weekend, we’ll look back on the renowned 1920s initiation of this dog team racing sport. At 1:00 various styles of the Charleston will be performed, and you can give it a try. Come enjoy the displays, activities, and entertainment during this months’ Saturday at the Center. Geared toward all ages.
Program included with museum admission. Come anytime! Please visit www.marquettehistory.org or call 906-226-3571 for more info. Saturday at the Center – The Third-Saturday Series at the History Center is an open house format hands-on and activity day featuring a new theme each month.
