Sands – A volunteer training session for the UP200 will be held on Sunday, February 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sands Township Complex, 987 South M553, just south of the Crossroads in Sands Township.
Join experienced mushers, Darlene Walch and Kent Koehn to learn how to be a dog handler, road crossing guard, and provide effective crowd control during the three races of the UP200. This training session is geared toward new volunteers and anyone who wants to know what it is like before they sign up to volunteer. Background information about sled dogs and dog care, the trail, and the upcoming races will be included.
Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided by the Sands Township Recreation Committee.
