Marquette – The Marquette Senior High School Poetry Out Loud Recitation Championship will be held on Wednesday, January 15 at 12:40 p.m. in the Shirley Smith Little Theatre at Marquette Senior High School.
The MSHS champion will advance to the Michigan State Championship in East Lansing on March 13 and 14. The state championship is sponsored by the Michigan Humanities Council. The state champion will advance to the national finals in Washington, D.C., and compete for a $20,000 college scholarship.
The MSHS Poetry Recitation Championship will consist of two rounds, with each contestant reciting one poem from the Poetry Out Loud online anthology in each round, following rules set by the National Endowment for the Arts.
