Hancock – The Nordic Film Series will offer a screening of “Fishin’ for Tradition: The Lutefisk Saga” on Thursday, November 14 at 2 p.m. and at 6 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 435 Quincy Street in Hancock.
Filmmaker Eric J. Nelson takes viewers into the mystifying tradition of lutefisk as it exists among Norwegian-Americans in the Upper Midwest. From the community lutefisk dinners held in basements of Lutheran churches and Sons of Norway Lodges to the purveyors of lutefisk in America, explore the role this traditional “fish jello” plays in Norwegian American culture today.
