(Marquette, MI) — In conjunction with the 2013 Universal Design Conference, Peter White Public Library invites the public to open informational sessions on Thursday, October 3 from 2:30-4:00pm. These events will take place at the library located at 217 N. Front St. Marquette, MI at no admission charge.
Sessions include a gallery talk and tour of Northern Michigan University’s Human Centered Design student work; a webinar on Accessible Playground Surfaces presented by the Access Board and the National Center on Accessibility; a hands-on demonstration of universally designed technology for people who experience barriers to independent living presented by Superior Alliance for Independent Living as well as one on one demonstrations of the library’s assistive technology and services for individuals with vision/hearing impairments and limited mobility.
Universal Design is a superior approach to design and construction that is inclusive, attractive and never obvious while improving function and usability for everyone in homes, products, and communities.
