The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced today that on Monday, Sept. 23, the Van Riper State Park Boating Access Site on Lake Michigamme in Marquette County will temporarily close for installation of a new concrete boat ramp.
The improvements will be completed by a DNR Parks and Recreation Division construction crew. The boat launch is expected to reopen by Friday, Sept. 27.
The Van Riper State Park Boating Access Site improvement project is funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, a restricted fund derived primarily from boat registration fees and Michigan marine fuel tax. The Waterways Fund is used for the acquisition, development, operation, and maintenance of public recreational boating access sites and harbors.
