(Marquette, Michigan) — Fall Flicks begins the season by hosting a screening of “Promised Land” on Thursday, September 12 at 5:30 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
This film is the story of Steve Butler, a natural gas company salesman played by Matt Damon, whose journey from farm boy to big-time player takes an unexpected detour when he lands in a small town and grapples with a surprising array of both open hearts and closed doors. He has been sent to the rural town of McKinley with his sales partner to make offers to the townspeople for drilling rights to their properties. What seems like an easy job and a short stay for the duo becomes complicated by calls for community-wide consideration of the offer by a respected schoolteacher and a slick environmental activist.
Costarring Hal Holbrook, “Promised Land” was released in January 2013, is rated R and runs for 109 minutes.
Fall Flicks invites the public to bring their own takeout supper and enjoy this recently released feature film in a dinner theater setting.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
