The United Evangelical Covenant Church of Ishpeming has become Mission Covenant Church

(Ishpeming, MI) – There’s a new church in town! Well, actually it’s 134 years old, but the name is new. The United Evangelical Covenant Church of Ishpeming has become Mission Covenant Church.

The church voted unanimously to change its name this summer to express a desire to connect with God’s mission in the world. Mission Covenant is also the name the Covenant churches in Negaunee and Ishpeming used over 100 years ago when they were stared by Swedish immigrants. Those two churches joined in 1976 to become “United.”

This week, to celebrate its new name, Mission Covenant Church, located by the ball fields at 1001 N. Second Street in Ishpeming, will have an Open House on Thursday (Aug. 8), 5-8 p.m. The public is invited.
