Marquette – Shakespeare Readers will meet for a reading of “The Merchant of Venice” on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Written in approximately 1596, “The Merchant of Venice” is one of Shakespeare’s comedies that is best known for its dramatic scenes. Set in 16th century Venice, the play revolves around a merchant who must default on a large loan from an abused Jewish moneylender for a friend with romantic ambitions.
Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and new members are always welcome.
