The Marquette Maritime Museum, with the help of the U.P. Children’s Museum, is working to make the Maritime Museum a special place for families to learn about the rich tradition of the area’s maritime history and they need your help.
The Museums are looking for children, ages eight and up, with a guardian of their choice, to come and participate in “Maritime-o-Saurus”.
The young designers will explore different maritime themes and examine the possibilities. The young consultants will then discuss possible exhibit changes with officials at the Maritime Museum. There will be yummy snacks, drinks and some fun gifts as well.
The event begins on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to noon, meeting first at the Marquette Maritime Museum. Explore downtown maritime spots on a car scavenger hunt.
The second part of the event will be held on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the U.P. Children’s Museum. Model and present new ideas for the Maritime Museum.
On Saturday, June 8, there will be an Unveiling Party to see the ideas come to life and celebrate all the hard work the kids put in.
