The Marquette Lions Club, chartered in 1919, is the original Club in Michigan, and one of the oldest in the world. Our parent organization, Lions Club International, was originally foundedin 1917 by a Chicago businessman by the name of Melvin Jones. Although a relatively young service club, by comparison, it quickly became the largest service club organization in the world (and the first to admit women)!

You probably know us best for our work with “the blind” … but there is a lot more to us than people are aware. We are actually a rather diversified group, both locally and internationally, and our story is quite fascinating … we’d very much like to share it with you in May, during our Informational Open House.

The Marquette Lions Club has been faithfully serving our community for 94 years and is still going strong! Past Presidents of our chapter have included physicians, judges, attorneys, businessmen and businesswomen, educators, moms and dads. We are involved in a variety of projects, sponsor great causes, provide help for those in need, and are dedicated to continually serving our fine community. We seek to do this through expansion of current projects, and implementation of new dynamic ones … we would love for you to become an integral part of our efforts and success. It’s really much simpler than you probably think! But don’t just think … come learn for yourself. Our Informational Open House affords us a splendid and relaxed avenue for you to meet our many wonderful members; ask questions; and learn about Lionism, the depth of our Club, who we are, our goals, how we go about helping others, and available levels of participation.
The evening is guaranteed to be fun, enlightening, and well worth your visit. Best of all — it’s FREE! So be sure to attend and bring along a guest or two to share in the excitement!
