Marquette – The Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition will present the fifth annual “Celebrate the U.P.” on Friday, March 8 and and Saturday, March 9 at The Landmark Inn, Peter White Public Library and the Federated Women’s Clubhouse, all on the corners of Front and Ridge Streets in Marquette.
Jonathan Lutz, executive director of Michigan Audubon, will offer “Strategic Initiatives for Bird Conservation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula” on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Federated Women’s Clubhouse.
Twelve speakers will offer presentations art, U.P. literature, archeology, birds, alpaca farming, and Native American treaties and indigenous foods on Saturday between 10 a.m.and 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library and at the Landmark Inn.
A group of panelists will discuss “Harvesting Biomass and Forest Health” on Saturday from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Community Room of the Peter White Public Library. The panel is made up of foresters, ecologists, and landowners. A public reception following the panel will convene at the Federated Women’s Clubhouse.
